Montha Cruise
Cruise company: Classic Barges
Cruise type: Midrange, Private
Destinations: Thailand - Thailand
Based on an antique rice-barge, Classic Barges 'Montha' is almost totally constructed from golden teak and mahogany; she has many unique concepts which make her stand out from the other barges on the river. Her upper deck includes an air-conditioned lounge and dining area that is inspired by turn of the century colonial architecture, featuring solid golden teak paneling and a hand carving depicting a scene from the Ayutthaya period.
Introduction
After an extensive re-furbishing program, the barge 'Montha' is one of the latest, and undoubtedly, most luxurious vessel to re-enter the river trade. Catering to travellers and business persons alike, 'Montha' plies the Chao Phraya and its tributaries, providing accommodation and facilities in a luxurious yet traditional style. Designed to carry a maximum of 4 guests, (2 adults plus 2 children) service, comfort and privacy is assured. Our 5 star services include the option of experiencing the delights of traditional Thai dishes on board or stopping at some of the many riverside restaurants. We invite guests to relax and enjoy one of the great journeys of our time where the perfect backdrop of the Chao Phraya brings new and exciting experiences with every river bend.
Accommodation
Conceived with comfort and style to the forefront, Montha's distinctive upper deck sets her apart from other boats on the river. The lounge and dining areas, designed like a garden pavilion with light ornate balustrade, afford uninterrupted views of the river. The decorative teak ceiling features a traditional ceiling fan to supplement the river breezes, adding to the tropical Old World atmosphere. Below decks the Main Stateroom has a conventional king-size bed and en-suite bathroom; a multi-purpose saloon, also with a full en-suite, provides flexibility in usage of the vessel. All features on the lower deck are on one level and are similar to a hotel suite. No-one could reasonably equate the accommodation on 'Montha' to an overnight sleeping compartment of a train, no matter how prestigious.

Dining Room & Bar
A modern Western styled kitchen located on the mezzanine deck, towards the vessel's stern, caters for a wide variety of cuisines. Menus can be arranged to suit individual dining requirements. Mindful that although visitors delight in Thai cuisine, sometimes a Western meal is appreciated; a Christmas goose, Thanksgiving turkey, or perhaps just a simple roast dinner. In addition, our kitchen can prepare home-made pizzas, and freshly baked bread; not to mention a full selection of traditional Thai dishes and other international cuisine.
Onboard Activities
Having exclusive use of the entire vessel allows guests to plan an itinerary to suit their personal requirements, and to match their individual interests to the varied scenery and points of interest along the river.
